Crawford, Gang Awareness Coordinator, Special Prosecutions & Organized Crime Section, Office of the Attorney General, will tell you what you need to know, and you won’t be especially happy about it.  But you need to know.  Wherever you live and work, there’s either current or coming gang activity.  Why? What can you do about it? How do you recognize it?

April D.R. Crawford holds an undergraduate degree in Psychology from George Mason and a Master’s in Forensic Psychology from Marymount.  She was a juvenile probation officer, with the Dept. of Juvenile Justice, for over 4 ½ yrs in Northern VA and has been a member of the Adjunct Faculty at John Tyler Community College for over 2 yrs, teaching intro-ductory psychology & developmental psychology.  Ms. Crawford now provides gang training locally, regionally and statewide, as well as coordinating state prevention, intervention and suppression efforts.  Ms. Crawford is a member of the VA Gang Investigators Association (VGIA) and has successfully completed their gang specialist training.

"Richmond Marketplace 2009" With Brian Glass, Grubb & Ellis/Harrison & Bates, Inc.

Where does retail stand in light of the dramatic economic downturn that has taken place? Mr. Glass discussed how the amount of retail space that has been delivered in the past year will affect the Richmond region in 2009, as well as soon to be available space. More specifics were unveiled, including comments on rental rates, vacancy rates, and Landlord/Tenant relationships.

Mambo Madness Kicks Off VMFA Third Thursdays

March 19, 6 p.m.

The Virginia Museum of Fine Arts’ 2009 Third Thursdays is presented on the third Thursday of each month from 6 to 9 p.m. and features themed events centered on music, art, tours, food and specialty drinks. Kicking things off in smoky mode, the first event will feature DJ Steve Latin Dance Party. Participants can learn sassy salsa dancing. An Art Tasting gallery walk will relate to works of art in the VMFA collection. Quesadillas will also be offered along with specialty drinks. At each event, participants will be eligible to win gift certificates for dinner for two worth $50 from Bistro Twenty Seven or The Melting Pot.

Third Thursdays tickets are $10 (members, $8). Free parking in the museum’s deck is included in the price of a ticket.
